NorthSound Racing starts its 4th season March 12th!

The Pacific Northwest’s only radio show devoted to covering the diverse local racing and motorsports scene is returning for its fourth season. Northsound Racing starts up again Thursday, March 12th, with many changes in store

KRKO radio has expanded its signal strength to 34,000-watt daytime/50,000-watt nighttime, allowing all of its national and local programs to be heard like never before. Along with Fox Sports national programming, and increased coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series racing, KRKO once again brings listeners all the latest racing news and action in 2009. Also new for 2009 is KRKO’s expansion into the world of HD broadcasting. In the near future, listeners who have a factory installed HD radio receiver in their car will be able to hear digital quality sound and receive scrolling local and national sports scores in real time on their HD radio receiver display by tuning to 1380AM on the radio.

Steve Mortland returns as the host of Northsound Racing for 2009, along with new co-host Tom Glithero. Also returning “behind the scenes” for the second year is Sheree Berg. “It’s always been an honor to be the host of Northsound Racing, and now that the show is entering it’s fourth season, it’s still as much fun to do as when we started back in 2005. Having someone like Tom being involved in the show will only make it better. You can’t deny the fact that Tom has just about done it all in the racing business, and his experience, along with his uncanny ability to tell stories is something that I’m really looking forward to.” Mortland said recently. “The basic premise of Northsound Racing will still remain as it’s always been, and that is to treat all involved, be it guests, sponsors, and especially the listeners with respect.

Covering the major and weekly races at all the local racing facilities in the Pacific Northwest, along with featuring the lesser known, yet equally exciting forms of motorsports the area has to offer, allows Northsound Racing to bring listeners the best in ]interviews, features and news both locally and nationally. We’ll keep listeners up to date with the many touring series, as well as the results from all divisions at their favorite tracks.

Northsound Racing begins its 2009 season on March 12th. Tune in from 8:00 to 10:00 PM Thursday nights on KRKO 1380AM or on the web at
http://www.northsound1380.com/listenlive. Following Northsound Racing, tune into the Verizon Pit Reporters, a Performance Racing Network produced weekly radio show featuring a round table discussion of the week in NASCAR. Hosted by Brett McMillan, and a rotating group of NASCAR reporters, The Verizon Pit Reporters offers a unique look inside the world of stock car racing.
